Two Excel files into one EViews worksheet

Hi,

I have two Excel work files containing panel data. The one contains data from 2000-2007, the other one data from 2008-2012. Since both files contain around 900.000 lines, I can't put the data into one Excel file (limitation is ca. 1.04 million lines in Excel 2010).
Both files have the same layout of course (all column names (and thus their value type) are the same).
Importing both files and then merging them doesn't work (observation count remains at the number of observations from the file imported first, year suddenly changed from 2007 to 73424 f.ex.)

Can anybody help?
