Question regarding forecasting

Hello! I am a beginner in Eviews and English is not my native language.

At the moment I am working with a model were I have food prices as my dependent variable and energy prices as my explanatory variable. I have estimated an AR (1)-model. I have monthly data observations from 1974M01 – 2013M10. I would like to produce a forecast for the period 2013M11-2014M11 for my dependent variable. As I am been searching around the forum I have found answers that is not possible to produce a forecast for the dependent variable ( in this case for 2013M11-2014M11) if I don’t have any observations for my explanatory variable raneging from 2013M11-2014M11. Is this true or have I got it completely wrong? ( I am using Eviews 8 Student version)

You are correct. This is not an EViews issue. It is fundamental math.
