How to link excel data

I am working with excel and eviews with several databases and it would be really good if there was a way to make the data linkes, so if I update the excel file, the eviews file would be automatticaly updated.

Is there any way to do this without the Excel add-in?

That's a fairly broad question, so I'll give a broad answer:

Yes EViews (Enterprise) can connect to a SQL database, grab data and then perform statistical analysis and forecasting. It can also put series back into SQL.
