SMPL dates

The lines below works when I run the whole batch-file the lines are a part of, but it does not work when I mark these lines in the bacth, click on te right mouse button and choose "run selected":

%FSTART = "2013q2" %FSTOP = "2017q4" SMPL %FSTART %FSTOP

Any suggestions on how to fix this?

I'm not sure I follow. If I select those three lines and do "Run selected" it works fine.
