I'm still using Eviews 6 and PowerPoint 2003 (sorry, government cutbacks).
Whenever I'm running an Eviews program, my PowerPoint freezes every time I try to edit a slide. I can read a PowerPoint presentation on screen, but any edit causes a freeze. Both applications are installed on the hard drive and their respective workfiles are also saved on the hard drive, not on the network.
I have plenty of CPU power left, as the Eviews program only eats up about 25%. And I have about 2.5 Gig of RAM left too. I can perform all kinds of other tasks, like Word, Excel, Access, web browsing, etc. It's only PowerPoint that doesn't seem to get along with Eviews, and only if an Eviews program is running (in the absence of a program, both applications co-exist peacefully).
Has anybody else suffered this problem and found a solution, other than upgrading to more recent versions :) ?

Re: Conflict with PowerPoint while running Eviews program
Try reducing the amount of memory addressed by EViews.
Options/Advanced System Configuration...
and reduce the amount of memory used by the EViews heap.

Re: Conflict with PowerPoint while running Eviews program
Thanks. Will this affect the speed of execution of the Eviews program?
