ID variable meaning ?

ID variable meaning ?

I'm researching the influence of two factor (inflation and money supply - monthly data - regular frequency ) on stock index ( Y- stock index = c + c2X-inflat + c3X_moneysupply) And i want to create ID variable to use FEM (fixed cross section) but i do not understand the meaning of ID and what is data of ID?. Please help me - thanks in advance

Assuming you want to create a panel, and you want the stock symbol to be the cross-section identifier, then the ID is the stock symbol.
