Crash calling FRED

Postby startz » Fri Feb 01, 2013 3:45 pm

I opened the Fred database (off the recent file list) and asked for an easy query on description matches "*potential" Got the progress report that it had gotten about 30% of the way through FRED.

8 crashed (did it 3 times)

7 crashed with "Visual C++ Runtime Library" "Run-time error"

No idea what's going on, but I should mention that FRED has been generally flaky today.

We are trying to replicate the crash (both 7 and 8), but with no luck.

Are you experiencing the problem on a machine that normally works just fine or was it from a new machine?

Can you elaborate on your statement that 'FRED has been generally flaky'?

Usual machine, current copies of EViews, machine hard rebooted fairly recently.

Earlier in the day the FRED web site had been dying when given searches. So maybe there was still something wrong at their end. (Although EViews shouldn't die.)

Yes you are correct EViews should not die.

I have yet to replicate the problem. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to fix without the problem occurring. If you notice the problem again, please let us know.

Thanks for your help.
