Dear all,

When i am testing the cointegration test or even estimating the VEC model the eviews shows up with "insufficient number of observations" and i dont know why.

If you could help me , i would appreciate that kindness

You haven't provided any information on exactly what you're trying to do, so it is hard to give information on why it isn't working.

However, if I were to hazard a guess, I would say that the most likely cause of that error message is that you do not have enough observations in your workfile to perform the VEC estimation you wish to perform.

Dear Sir,

I got the same problem. I am trying to run the below equation.

Log(export) = c + log(gdpA) + log(gdpB) + log(popA) + log(popB) + log(dist) + tariff

The data are balanced panel data of 14x744 = 10,416 observation.

The equation can be estimated successfully, if I run the following equation.
Log(export) = c + log(gdpA)

However, if I add one more variable (or more), i.e.:
Log(export) = c + log(gdpA) + log(gdpB)

It could not be estimated at all. The program indicates that "insufficient number of observations" all the times.

What is wrong with my estimation? Please help me to sort it out. Thank you very much.

Most likely cause is that the variables you are adding do not have enough observations.

Hi. My regression model is:

ln FDI = c + log (gdp) + log (nominal exchange rate) + log (open)

When I try to get estimate equation by using OLS, the pop-out window showed me that error message: insufficient number of observations.

Anyone can help? Thanks.

Take a look at the data series you are using in the regression.
