Panel Data manipulation

Hello,

I have a spreadsheet in excel with the structure:

Date ISO var1 var2 var3
1990m1 USA .....
...
2009m3 USA .....
1994m7 GBR .....
...
2009m3 GBR .....
...

An unbalanced panel of 100 countries with 3 variables reported on monthly frequency.

I would like to import the sheet from Excel and create variables in time series form like:
USA_var1
USA_var2
USA_var3
GBR_var1
GBR_var2
etc.

Following the steps described in http://forums.eviews.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=74 I obtain a panel structure with ISO (country) codes and the variables but what I really need is a file with 300 variables.

I haven't found any method in either the manuals or the forum, could you give me some ideas?
