According to the online help files for EViews 7.2,

As with other objects, equations may be stored to disk in data bank or database files. You can also fetch equations from these files.

Equations may also be copied-and-pasted to, or from, workfiles or databases.

EViews even allows you to access equations directly from your databases or another workfile. You can estimate an equation, store it in a database, and then use it to forecast in several workfiles.

However, every time I try to do this, I obtain an error message saying

Database error: object 'eq01' is not a database object

.

I imagine that I am doing something wrong, but it is not obvious what.

[I select the equation in the workfile, right-click, select

Store to DB

, then click

Yes

in the dialogue box. The error message above then follows.]

Can anyone help resolve this, please?

You're doing it right (and I just did those steps on my copy of EViews, and it worked). Are you sure your copy of EViews is up to date? Are you sure you're storing to an EViews database?

Hello Gareth,

Thanks for your reply. I think you have solved my problem with your query about databases: I was trying to store to a GiveWin database, not an EViews database. It works perffectly when using a native EViews database.
