Hey at all,
I am a beginner in using EViews, not in estimating regression analysis. But at the moment I dont know if its a technical or a personal error I am handling with :). User Guide 1 doesnt help me with my Problem - using the search function neither.
I have a dataset in panel design with 10 different working groups observed at 3 shifts a day over 3 months with about 25 variables. My observation is the shift per day of each group.
My problem now is to import this XLS file to eviews and let it know it is a panel.
Everytime i click on the "Get Data" EViews add-in at the Excel file, it wants me to select an eviews file to open. But actually i just want to open the already opend xls- file?! Escape doesnt work then - always the error message: "File 'Falsch.edb' does not exist" -> automatical return to select an eviews file to open and again and again. Only way to get out of this slope is by using the task manager.
Trying to import the file over the eviews foreign data as workfile makes eview crash...
Other statistic programms easily open the xls file and convert it perfectly in the design i want to use it. But i want to estimate with eviews!
Any hints?

1. If EViews is crashing, you should supply the file and the exact steps that make it crash to tech support either by posting here or by email. No matter what, EViews should never crash.
2. You should be able to simply drag-and-drop your Excel file into EViews.

Startz is dead on. However I will just add to his comments and say that the Excel add-in is meant for bringing EViews data into Excel, not the other way around.
We would really like to see the file that causes the crash though.

Drag & Drop... this was too easy for me! Thank you very much :)
