Date Period using WFOPEN

Hello,
I am a recent convert to EViews 7 and I am using WFOPEN for the first time.
I have an xlsx file:
1st row is Headers
1st Column is dates (daily, of the format: m/d/yyyy)
Using wfopen, EViews is reading everything correctly, except it is reading in the date column as a separate variable, and each series has no dates.
Is there an option for WFOPEN where you set the sample for the columns being read in? Or do you use another command to add dates to each of the imported series? If it is the latter, what is the best way to do this?
Thanks!
