I have a simple question. How do I unstack data without having the name of the unstacked series included in the names of the new series? (i.e. I just want the new series to take on the associated values of the unstacking identifier). For example, I would like to transform the unstructured workfile:
DATEID VARCODE QUANTITY
1994M01 COPR_AA 69.000000
1994M02 COPR_AA 76.000000
1994M03 COPR_AA 71.000000
1994M04 COPR_AA 83.000000
1994M05 COPR_AA 79.000000
1994M06 COPR_AA 65.000000
1994M07 COPR_AA 75.000000
1994M08 COPR_AA 80.000000
1994M09 COPR_AA 75.000000
1994M10 COPR_AA 71.000000
1994M11 COPR_AA 67.000000
1994M12 COPR_AA 69.000000
to a monthly workfile:
OBS COPR_AA
1994M01 69.000000
1994M02 76.000000
1994M03 71.000000
1994M04 83.000000
1994M05 79.000000
1994M06 65.000000
1994M07 75.000000
1994M08 80.000000
1994M09 75.000000
1994M10 71.000000
1994M11 67.000000
1994M12 69.000000
How would I phrase the pageunstack command to do this? I am using Eviews 7.1

Re: Naming unstacked series
Not sure it is possible. You'll have to use the rename command afterwards
Re: Naming unstacked series
That's the strategy that I'm using as a work-around:
rename quantity* *
(after deleting the "quantity" group that is created during unstacking process)
rename quantity* *
(after deleting the "quantity" group that is created during unstacking process)
