Transferring series to a panel .wf1 (EV 6)

Postby nadja123 » Wed May 26, 2010 4:47 am

Hi there,

I have a couple of .wf1-s with identical no. of obs. and series names and suppose these represent 'individual cros-sections'. Now I need to create another workfile, with a dated panel structure, that would contain series from the individual .wf1-s, while keeping the series names .. e.g.:
  • cs1.wf1 (obs N)... series1, series2
    cs2.wf1 (obs N)... series 1, series2
    panel.wf1 (obs N, cros-sections 2) series1, series2
I 've checked out "stacking workfile" in the documentation, but that seems to apply to a single workfile; "copy" returns error due to match problems.
I would appreciate whatever tips / hints to commands I could use. Many thanks for helping!

The easiest thing to do would be to upgrade to EViews 7 and use the import command ;)

Other than that, all you can do is rename each variable in your current workfiles so that they have the cross-section ID in their name. Then copy them all into the same workfile page. Then stack that page into a panel.
