Information about X-12 and EViews

The latest versions of X-12, as released by the Census Bureau, have had some features of the earlier versions removed. In order to provide EViews users the ability to use the removed earlier features, we have decided to continue shipping with the old version (version 0.2.9). The most noticeable of the removed features is the ability to specify from a file a list of ARIMA specifications for the automatic ARIMA selection procedure.

If you still wish to update your version of X-12, proceed to http://www.census.gov/srd/www/x12a/x12downv03_pc.html and download any archive which contains the 32 bit version of the x12a.exe program. On your computer, navigate to where EViews 7 has been installed (usually c:\program files\EViews7) and backup x12a.exe by renaming x12a.exe to x12a_029.exe (this is in case you need to revert back to the old version). Next extract the x12a.exe file from the downloaded archive and place it in the EViews directory.
