Hi All,
I would like to ask about your help. I have panel data ( including dummy explanatory variables) in over 500 companies, separated by year. Each sheet in my excel is dedicated to a different year. how can i import the file and transform it to panel data.
I have read the threads of Eviews Gareth adn especially the 3rd and 4th one, but in my case i have no data that ara regenareted like in his thread.
Is it possible to suggest me the code or the steps?
I attach you a part of my sample in order to see the format that i have
Thank you in advance

What are the cross-sections?
Re: panel data importation from dif excel sheets
Dear All,
My cross-sections should be the companies(name). How to make it run??
Additional to this I have 2 more questions:
a. when I try to work on random effects in hypothetical data I have a message that my dependant variables cannot be more than my cross sections??
b. Speaking about control variables, do i Have to regress them in a GLS estimation??
Thank you very much

There are two entries for "DOMINO'S PIZZA GROUP" in 2011.
Re: panel data importation from dif excel sheets
My data are for dividend announcements, so some companies announce interim and final dividend or some other announce small dividends each quarter, that is why i have 2 observations for one company.

For panel data, you need only one observation per cross-section per year. That's the definition of panel data.
