Weighting Eviews dataset

Postby ww34 » Tue Sep 15, 2015 10:18 am

This may be a ridiculous question but I'm stumped - how do you apply a weight series to an Eviews dataset so that descriptive statistics are calculated using the weights? I know Eviews has weighting options for regressions but this is not what I want. I have a weighting series, the problem is how to apply it. I thought about dividing through but this is problematic since my key variable of interest is gender.
(i.e. male or female).

For context:
I am constructing marriage market sex ratios using NSS data which I have pooled. I have birthyear, state and gender - I get Eviews to show these in a N-way table so that I have a count of the number of men and the number of women born in each state in each year. The person weights come from NSS. The key point is that I need to make sure the marriage market sex ratios which I construct are representative of the population.

Unfortunately EViews does not have workfile-wide weighting yet. Many statistics produced in EViews do not support weighting.
