EViews is too complicated under the hood

Drag-and-drop csv file onto EViews 9--works fine.
Instead, open the file in Excel. While it's open drag-and-drop onto EViews. Get the dreaded "Dataset does not contains [sic] any tables" alert.

We were incorrectly reporting the wrong error. It should report a 'sharing violation' error. It will be fixed in the next patch

Can't you open the file read-only or something to avoid the violation? Or is Excel too annoying?

Excel puts a complete lock down on CSV files.
