Correlations by subsections of data (solar data)

Postby TracyW » Tue Dec 09, 2014 3:42 am

I have a bunch of hourly data over several years for several different countries, including solar generation, power demand, and wind generation. I've read all this data into Eviews 8.1 with the time stamp. Obviously there's no solar generation at night, and generation peaks about midday, so if I calculate correlations of solar data across countries I get quite a high correlation, but if I calculate correlations between solar generation and wind generation, or solar generation and power demand I get quite a low correlation.

What I would like to do is to calculate these correlations by hour and ideally by month, so I can find out what the correlation is between solar generation in France and Germany at noon in August, or solar generation with wind generation at 2pm.

Is there an easy way of doing this in Eviews? I've had a look at the @statsby and there isn't a correlation option.

Cheers
