Panel Data With Multiple Variables

Postby samiul » Wed Jul 16, 2014 5:41 am

Hi,

I am fairly new to using eviews and I would like to be able to perform a simple regression on a panel dataset. I am looking at the performance of Islamic and Conventional banks during the period 2003-2013 using 9 different indicators of business performance.

The sample data I obtained is from the Bankscope database and provides bank level data. I have attached my excel datafile in order to make this more clear.

I want to initally run a regression of each of the 9 different indicators just using an Islamic Bank dummy variable (Specialistion = 0 for conventional banks, = 1 for Islamic banks).

I am currently using version 7.2 of eviews.

If something is not clear, just ask.

Thanks very much

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I have so far only produced simple linear regressions with single variables using pre-prepared datasets and tutorial guides so my previous experience is limited.

I presume that with my excel data, it would be best to organise the data such that each variable which is measured across the period of time and across the cross section (banks) are in separate sheets. I simply would like to run each of the 9 variables in my dataset as a dependant variable and use a Dummy variable to see the effect of my dummy on each variable.

Many Thanks
