X12 Invalid Date Error
I'm trying to seasonally adjust quarterly data 1990q1 - 2010q2 by State and MSA.
My program runs fine until it gets to region 392 and then gives me this error. Also, it doesn't populate the data for region 391. The entire dataset is 35,752 observations. I made a smaller set and then it ran regions>=392.
This is the error I'm getting. I've attached my code and data files. Any help would be appreciated.
Line 3: start = -1.-1
^
ERROR: Invalid date, expected a monthly abbreviation
Line 3: start = -1.-1
^
ERROR: Expect a date or a list of dates
Line 4: period = 4
^
ERROR: Assumed seasonal period of 12
ERROR: No time series specified

Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
Might be worth posting a program/workfile that can be run together. Your program requires a csv file that you haven't attached?
Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
Here's the .csv file. I renamed it with the .xls extension in order to upload it.
You'll need to rename it .csv for the program to run. I can't get eviews to read an .xls.
I'm really new to eviews. Thanks for taking a look at it.

Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
Still don't get the same error you're getting.
Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
Were you able to run it on the workfile in the zip file?
The size was 1mb to large to upload so I had to zip it.
It's really weird. If I break the data up into 2 sets it will run all. If all the data is in one workfile and even if I only run the 337 to 436 it stops at 392.
If I run 1 to 436 it also errors out at 392.

Just in case, is your copy of EViews uptodate?
Re: X12 Invalid Date Error

i tried to call eviews and even though i have a registered copy i'm not "on the list" of who they will talk to at my company.
my boss tried to call eviews and no one answered the phone.
i can call sas about anything and they fix it pronto.

Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
You should probably update your copy.
However until we are able to see exactly what the problem is, I'm not sure how much help we can be.

Re: X12 Invalid Date Error
i've updated the software and i still have the same problem.
i was able to shrink the workfile to the upload limit and get eviews to read an .xls. here's the updated program, workfile and .xls.

ok, that works, and I get the same error you do. No idea what is causing it yet, but we'll investigate.
