macosx please, or cloud version
in 2010, nearly 50% of incoming college freshman intend to buy Mac laptop, see http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/08/07/ ... on-campus/ alternatively, leading apps have migrated to the Cloud, needing only a web browser for access. so, it is a bit annoying to be assigned by professor a requirement to purchase outdated Windows-only software.

We continuously evaluate Mac, Linux, and cloud versions. Whilst you are correct that Mac has made large in roads in one small market segment, obviously it is still the case that Windows machines massively dominate the EViews target market.
I would not be at all surprised if a Mac version did appear, but it would not be for a couple of years at least. In the mean time, EViews does work very well under some of he virtualization technologies such as VMWare Fusion or Virtual PC (note that we believe it will not work with Crossover)

Fellow MacOSX students, a good substitute is RATS by Estima ( estima.com ) in both Mac and Windows versions.
In addition, Chris Brooks, the author of Introductory Econometrics for Finance, 2d ed, (2009) has a supplementary text for RATS users that mirrors his base textbook's EViews problems.
