From Panel to Cross-Section

Postby z_high0 » Sun Apr 25, 2010 7:13 am

I have a panel data in eviews, i.e. I have the pooled file with say GDP_AUS, GDP_USA etc. and then I can even stack them into a new page to perform panel data estimation etc.

but what I also want to do is that, for each year of the panel I want to run a cross-section OLS. Say, if I have 20 years, for each of these 20 years, I want to run an cross-country OLS regression. Is there an easy way of doing that from the panel data?

In your panel workfile (you said you have both a panel and a pool - for this working with the panel is easiest), simply create an equation and estimate it in the normal way, but set the sample to be 1982 only.
