FRED connection error

FRED connection error

I have not been able to fetch data from FRED since yesterday on one of my machines. The error message is: "The request was aborted: Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel".

Also "Database Error: FRED library error: "Error "HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component"

The same version of EViews however is working on my other machine (same IP address if that makes a difference).

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Unfortunately FRED has recently updated their API security settings, rendering their service incompatible with older versions of EViews.

EViews 11 and EViews 12 continue to work with the latest FRED without any issues.

The only solution is to upgrade your version of EViews (which I know is probably not wanted you wanted to hear).

FYI, i am now getting this error with EViews 12. Anyone else experiencing this?

Seems like FRED is doing maintenance of some sort.
