Licensing method

Postby ibdeleon » Thu Mar 11, 2010 8:58 pm

Hello. We recently purchased E-Views 7 and were provided with 2 serial numbers which i assume corresponds to a two-seat license.
We intend to use a network server then have individual connected workstations running E-Views. With our current license, can we
install on several (meaning more than 2) workstations then have 2 concurrent sessions of E-Views? Or are we constrained to
installing on two(2) workstations connected to the server?

Thanks, sorry for the confusion.

Where and how many times your other serial number may be installed will depend on the specific serial number. Send an email to support@eviews.com or your sales rep to get specific serial number information.

In general if you have purchased a concurrent use license (one beginning with 70J or 70K ) you may install EViews on multiple client machines. In conjunction with the EViews application for a concurrent use license you will also need to install the EViews License Manager on a network accessible server. A concurrent use serial number may only be registered to the ONE machine hosting license manager. When installing the EView application, you are prompted for the serial number but that is used for configuring your system. The license is not being registered. The license is registered only when you 'Add License' to the license manager via the license management console. Once the clients and license manager have been configured, the maximum number of users at any one time is managed by the license manager and is dependent on the serial number.

It is possible however, you may have purchased 2 seat licenses. Unlike concurrent use licenses, seat licenses are fixed to a machine. You can therefore only install each license once.
