Check if Matlab session is opened

Hi there,

I was wondering if there is a way of checking whether a Matlab session has been started with the xopen command. I am in the developing phase of a code, which requires me to run many trials in each step of the way. It is sometimes very time consuming to wait for the Matlab session to be opened and hence I was wondering if there is a way of checking when the session is opened or not.
