Cannot import Excel file into Eviews

Hi y'all!
I tried to import a 97-2003 Excel files to Eviews (version 8.1) but for some reason, the Eviews does not recognized the file I tried to import. Whenever I imported the file, an error message appears: "[directory to the XYZ file] is not a legal file name." If I drag-and-drop the excel file to Eviews, another message appears: "The file does not exist"

Someone helps me, please?

1. Is your version of EViews fully updated?
2. You might want to post the Excel file.

Also open the file with Excel and save it with a different name. See if EViews can read the new file.
