@iff & @recode !

Hi everybody,
when i use the function series dum1=@iff(@month=1,1,0) a message error appear "@IFF is not a Genr or series expression function.", but when i use @recode it work.
but in command reference Basic Mathematical Functions @iff "Note this is the same as @recode.", why doesn't work?, i'm not using a matrix objects ( Note: @iff, @inv, and @recode do not work with matrix objects.)
