increasing cross sections in panel data

Postby isp » Mon Nov 30, 2015 9:52 pm

I'd be grateful if someone could tell me how to add a cross section to an existing panel data workfile. e.g. if I have a monthly time series, and five cross sections (being countries), how do I add a sixth country please?

I can easily add months to the time series via Proc/Resize by editing the Start Date and End Date fields. But I can't see how to add a new country.

I have EViews 9.

Many thanks

Where are the data for the extra cross-section currently? Generally you can just drag the data into the workfile, and EViews will resize for you.

Thanks Gareth. My data is in an Excel spreadsheet. I can paste updated values for existing series, in sheet view, but it won't let me insert a new column (for a new cross section). I tried editing the CROSSID object (which contains the cross section IDs) but it won't allow it.

Just drag the Excel file onto the workfile.
