Excel 2007 support yet?

Postby Reginald » Tue Sep 01, 2009 3:55 pm

Does Eviews support Excel 2007 yet? I would assume with the July 27, 2009 patch it would be included. The substantially larger row and column capacity of 2007 makes it very useful and saving files down to 2003 is becoming a problem due to it's limited column capicity.

Due to the substantial changes that are required, including Excel 2007 support as an update to EViews 6 is infeasible and unlikely. Thus you're going to have to wait for EViews 7.

And, in all seriousness, will EViews 7 support Excel 2010--due out in late Spring?

That's impossible for us to know until Microsoft gives us access to a beta (or any other) copy of it. We're expecting one later this year.

Whether we'll get one in time for EViews 7 or not, I'm not sure. However I'll be mightily surprised if Microsoft have changed the file format of Excel 2010 much compared with Excel 2007, so I'm pretty sure that EViews 7 will either already be able to read Excel 2010, or will only require a minor tweak.
