Merging series

Hey, I have two workfiles with different id-list. For the most part they contents different dates, but some observations are from the same date. I want to copy everything from one of the workfiles over to the other. The problem is that some of the dates are identical and I want to merge those observations together. So for example if I have a series with 20 observations for the GDP and a series with 12 observations for the inflation, and two of these observations have the similar id (similar date), is it then possible to copy both of these two series over to a new workfile (with 30 observations) that merges the similar dates?

I am not quite sure I understood your question, but seems like easier to work things out in Excel (vlookup) before loading data to Eviews. Is that it?

I too am not sure I understand the question (probably posting your workfile help us the most), but it is unlikely that doing it in Excel is easier. Match merging two workfile pages in EViews is considerably easier than using vlookup in Excel.
