Bloomberg Database
I just upgraded to 8.1 and wanted to import data from Bloomberg, where I have BBG Professional installed and active. But when I go to Open-->Database, Bloomberg is not one of the options in the pulldown and I can't seem to get a fetch command programmatically to pull down a series. Do I need to initially point Eviews with the "Browse files" button to a particular location on my machine? Thanks

Re: Bloomberg Database
If you type into the EViews command window, Bloomberg should be listed as registered or not registered. Press Yes(All) in either case to make sure.
Type regcomponents again and Bloomberg should now be listed as 'registered'.
Bloomberg should also now appear in the file->open->database dialog.
Code: Select all
regcomponentsType regcomponents again and Bloomberg should now be listed as 'registered'.
Bloomberg should also now appear in the file->open->database dialog.
Re: Bloomberg Database
I'm having the same problem with not seeing Bloomberg Database in the list. I also ran the "regcomponents - Yes(all)" fix but still unable to see the database. Restart did not help either. Any further suggestions?

Re: Bloomberg Database
Also verify you have the Enterprise edition of EViews. If you select help->About EViews, the first line will either read Enterprise or Stand Edition. Bloomberg is an enterprise only feature
Re: Bloomberg Database
Confirmed it is Enterprise Edition - Sep 23 2014 Build.
Poking around my directories, I can see..
Bloomberg API is installed in c:\df\blp\API, I believe the df path is not standard.
In c:\program files\eviews 8 directory, I can see folder EDX_40 and subfolder Bloomberg
I have tried complete system restart, logged in to Bloomberg and attempted the regcomponents method without success.
After an office relocation, we are temporarily using Internet Connection instead of dedicated line. Does that make any difference?

Re: Bloomberg Database
Try updating your copy of EViews by selecting help->EViews update. If still doesnt show after updating, try the "regcomponents - Yes(all)" fix again.
Re: Bloomberg Database
Thank you very much! A second Eviews update worked.
