panel data with interval years

Postby vivienpua » Tue Dec 09, 2014 9:06 am

Hi,

I have a panel of data with only limited years as the data i get from the survey is only conducted in two or three years time. The gaps between the interval are not consistent also. WIll it be a problem when running my estimation? and may i know how to structure the workfile for estimation?

*the data is available in 1984, 1987,1989,1992,1995,1997,1999,2002,2004,2007,2009 and 2012 for 13 states in a country.

Thanks for the help.

EViews won't care if the date structure is irregular - it will read it in as a dated panel without any issues.

so i should just choose the option of unstructured/undated data as the workfile structure type and proceed with my estimation?

Thanks a lot for the help.

Ideally you already have the data in some format (such as Excel), and then you open up the Excel file in EViews, and EViews will figure out the panel structure by itself.

Try opening the attached file in EViews (just drag it onto EViews), for example.
