how to create vectors?

Postby aiza » Fri Oct 10, 2014 8:14 am

Hi! I have recently started using Eviews7. One thing I am unable to understand are vectors. As my research paper says "vector of explanatory variables", I am unable to incorporate it into software. Kindly guide me to identify the right option to create vectors.
Thanking in Anticipation!

The simple answer to your question is:
Click on Object->New Object, then select Vector.

However, I suspect you don't really want to create a vector at all, but without knowing what you are trying to do, it is difficult to tell you how to do it.

I have tried that but I am unable to incorporate data when I chose vector as "New Object".

You actually want to create series objects then.

I'm assuming that your data already lie in a file somewhere (such as an Excel file, or a Stata file). You're best off just opening that file in EViews (File->Open->Foreign Data).

You should also look through some of the introductory lessons on using EViews:
