I have a piculare and recurring problem with EViews 8. I use a laptop with a second screen plugged in when working in my office. Often, I'll take my work home with me by keeping EViews open and hibernating my computer. When I return to work, EViews will often not allow me to return to my work. I only get the upper left-hand corner to show up on my screens. I've attached an image of my screenshot. If I double click on the EViews corner, it simply normalizes the upper left-hand corner into the middle of the screen. Double clicking that only maximizes the corner back to the upper left-hand corner of the screen. Clicking the EViews icon at the bottom of the screen does not help, and moving the program to the other screen does not change the outcome. The only way out is to force kill Eviews and start over again, often at the cost of lost work.
On another item, the series label view does not have fields for units or source, even though I can hit these fields programmatically. In older versions of EViews, I could type into a units and source fields.
Many thanks!
Steve

We'll investigate.
You can still add Source and Units attributes in EViews 8. You can add any attribute you want - just type in the blank space under the other attributes (usually under description).

Gareth,
That's pretty slick. In effect we can add other attribute fields to our liking as well. Thanks!

If you switch to the details view of the workfile you can add columns for the attributes too

Re: EViews Minimizes with no recourse
We cannot recreate the issue here.
Which monitor contains EViews just before hibernating?
Is EViews minimized, maximized, or takes up a part of the screen?
Which version of Windows are you using?
Is your copy of EViews up to date?
Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of EViews?

Re: EViews Minimizes with no recourse
Jason,
I'm running Windows 7 64Bit, fully up to date, and Eviews (64Bit) is fully up to date. It could be that I have EViews open in the secondary monitor, it switches to my primary (laptop) monitor when at home. Now it is very possible that this behavior occurs after I return to the office and do not work on EViews for a day, hibernate my computer, return home, then go back to EViews a couple of days later. So there is likely a span of a couple or more days open, where EViews is not engaged. I generally keep my windows Maximized or normal, but not necessarily active (likely an Adobe, spreadsheet, or Word document over it). I rarely minimize a window. It is recurring, but not predictable, and I have not found a pattern that precedes it.
I'll keep monitoring the events. Is there an error or activity log that may help you when it does occur?
Thanks
Steve

Re: EViews Minimizes with no recourse
I will see if I can replicate it with the additional information you provided, but in the slight chance you can determine a procedure to reproduce the behavior, please let us know.
