Hi there,
I'm using EViews8 for the following:
I have an ACCESS database with multiple series of time series data. My ultimate goal is to be able to seasonally adjust some of the series from this ACCESS database in EViews, every time I update the ACCESS database for a new month and to then update a separate ACCESS database with just the seasonally adjusted series.
I know how to open an access database in Eviews and then to seasonally adjust the series one-by-one, but would like to automate as much of the process as possible. Would you be able to tell me if the following is possible and, if so, how to do it?
1. Can I update a workfile from an updated ACCESS database? If so, how do I link the two?
2. I know I can use the auto-update function to log transform a series, but can I auto-update a series as a seasonally adjusted series?
In other words, I think it would be great to just drag and drop the updated ACCESS database into Eviews, have an Eviews workfile of seasonally adjusted series auto-update (and compute seasonally adjusted numbers) from the not-seasonally adjusted series in the updated ACCESS database, and to then be able to save that EViews workfile over an old seasonally adjusted ACCESS database.
BUT I have no idea if this is possible. Could you tell me?
Thanks,
Mieke

Re: Eviews and ACCESS
EViews doesn't support linking from Access databases (since they aren't true time series databases).
You cannot have an auto-series containing the seasonally adjusted values.
Sounds like you're best off just writing an EViews program that does the importing from Access, the seasonal adjustment and then the exporting. That way every time you have new data you just need to re-run the EViews program.
