aggregating years in panel data

Postby ads » Mon Jul 14, 2014 9:59 pm

Hello, I have panel data for a number of variables (gdp, population growth etc), my cross-section is countries and the period is years. I wish to aggregate the variables into 5-year periods. Is there a way of doing this in Eviews?
thanks

Create a new page in your workfile with a structure of dated panel, with a 5-yearly frequency, and the same number of cross-sections. In each page create a new series:

Code: Select all

series id = @crossid
Then copy from the first page to the new page, using general-match-merge as the copy criteria, and "dateid" and "id" as the two id series. Use SUM as the contraction method.
