Postby Lol38 » Tue Jun 24, 2014 3:00 am

Hello,

I have a list of 80 observations in excel and i want to merge it with a list of more than 40000 observations in eviews but i dont know how to do it. Can you help me please?
I have paste the list from excel in an undated workfile but then i don't know how to merge these observations with my other promamme on eviews.

Thank you.

Just to be certain we understand what you're asking for - you have a single series (column) of data. Currently in EViews you have 4,000 observations (rows) for that single series (column). You want to expand that series so that it now has 4,080 observations (rows). Is that right?

Hello,

I'd better explain it again. I have a list of probability of risk in a list on excel (80 observations) and i want to assigne levels of risk to each observation in eviews (more than 40000).

I hope this time it is more clear.

Please, i don't know what to do. What i did was copy and paste from excel to eviews but the result wasn't what i expected. I want that each observation on eviews has the correspondant observation from excel.

Unless you can describe in detail what you want to do, we can't tell you how to do it.

Ok, sorry.

I have a source series which contains 80 observations in a workfile (in workfile1), each observation correspond to one country, i mean

Countries Taxes
A 80
b 90
c 70
d 50
...

On the other hand, i have another workfile (workfile2) that have 40.000 observations about countries but it doesn't have a series representing taxes by country so that i want to get my workfile(workfile2), which contains information about coutries, with the correspondant tax which come from the source serie in the first workfile(workfile1).

countries taxes
a 80
b 90
c 70
d 50
a 80
b 90
d 50
d 50
d 50
a 80
...

What i did was use the "Manage Link & Formulae" Options but it doesn't work for me, or i don't know how to use it.

I hope this time it will be clearer. Thank you.

Thank you for all but after trying by myself i could do it!

The answer was just copy and paste special and then select the option general match merge criteria.

Hello,

I have done a Merge by "pasting special" but the box with the options that appears when when you try to merge don't allowd me to "Link", it just let me "Paste as a serie (by value)".
What can i do to paste my source data as a link? or why the "link" option doesn't appear?

From a workfile to another. But the workfile which represents the source data comes from excel.

You can only paste as a link from one page to another page in the same workfile.

Hello,

I have tried to do what you told me about creating a link in two different pagues in the same file but the problem is still there in the merge. Is there any way of "undone" de merge and start over?

I have tried many ways but its impossible for me to solve de missings that appear in my sample.
