Equations identified? 2-equation model

Postby gerrard » Tue Jun 10, 2014 2:35 am

Hi,

I have created the following two simultaneous equations models (see the attached pictures). I think they should be exactly identified, I checked for rank and order condition. However, I am not sure, as this is the first time I do this. Could somebody please be so kind and check whether they are in fact exactly identified and not overidentified or not identified at all.
Also, if they are exactly identified, is it true that I do not need to use 2SLS but can solve for the structural parameters by Indirect Least Squares (ILS is purely algebraic, so no EViews operation needed, right?)

Thanks!

I think model 2 is exactly identified, but model 1 is overidentified.

In any event, in a just identified model ILS and 2SLS are identical. Since 2SLS is easy, why not use it?
