Hi,
I have a project to complete for a university paper. We have been given a question and a dataset. The problem is that all the practice I have had before on eviews has involved perfectly formatted data which isn't the case here. When I try to generate a new series I get 'numeric operator applied to string data' error. I know why this is but I don't know how to rectify it. In addition, how do I format yes or no on surveys to 1,0 and set intervals to midpoints? All the data appears as ABC for some reason and @val(x) doesn't seem to work. I appreciate that none of this is very informative without the data file and help is unlikely without it but I can't link it because it's more than 2mb and I get the error message "The attachment’s file size is too large, the maximum upload size is 2 MB.
Please note this is set in php.ini and cannot be overridden." If someone knows a way I can get the file to them I will. Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: numeric operator applied to string data
1. series zeroone = yesno = "yes"
2. I'd have to see the form of the interval data.
3. You could either try to find a subset of the data for which the problem persists and save a workfile with that subset, or use a file upload service (I've used WeTransfer before with good results).
