Tramo Seats or X13 for seasonal adjustment?

Postby jfca283 » Mon Mar 03, 2014 1:53 pm

Hi
I need to chose which method to perform a seasonal adjustment. I will use the criteria of less or minimum noise, ie, irregular component. But, how can i compare the Irregular series from Tramo/Seats against the irregular series from x13?
I did it, but Tramo/Seats reports values around 100, and x13 does the same but the values are near 1.
Have anyone of you deal with this kind of election?
Thanks for your post and time.

I am not sure if that is the right way to compare the two methods, since both are very comprehensive and offer a vast range of options and features. Both methods offer diagnostics to measure and understand the quality of adjustment, which I believe are much more important than the choice of adjustment approach itself. Anyway, the difference between the irregular components are probably due to choice of indexing. If you have chosen the multiplicative decomposition, then you can rescale Tramo/Seats' output by 1/100. See the manuals for more details.

I worked with Multiplicative composition over x13. So, as you mentioned, i just need to scale for 100.
Thanks a lot for your consideration. Really.
