Structure of panel data

Postby kmouts » Mon Oct 22, 2012 6:57 am

Hi all!

I hope this message finds you well.
I am a new EViews user and i have some enquiries.
I am trying to perform panel data regression analysis.
Sample: European banks, time period:2000-2010, annually observations
dependent variable: asset quality ratio (LLPs/total loans), independent variables: GDP, unemployment rate, long-term interest rate, short-term interest rate.
My problem is the formation (the structure) of the data in order to input them in EViews and perform the analysis.

best regards,

Costas

Hi all!

I am trying to form my date in panel structure and I have imported them in the following form:
1st column: id of each bank (total:195 banks)
2nd column: year (2000-2010 the period is repeated)
3rd column: dependent variable (loan-loss provisions)
4th column: GDP
5th column:unemployment rare
6th column:short-term interest rate
7th column:long-term interest rate
8th column: central government debt

In the final stage (workfile structure-->...) the following message appeared:indicies do not uniquely identify observations. 1 duplicate date found. Create cellid series to identify observatios?

I don't understand what is wrong... :(
Can you help me? If you like I can send a part of my data.
Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Costas

You have a duplicate. There are two rows with the same date and bank ID.
