Hi
I get an ODBC error ("ODBC error unable to connect to driver") when trying to open a .mdb file as foreign data in Eviews: File -> Open -> Foreign Data as Workfile.
I tried to download the package mentioned in this thread but it did not solve the problem: http://forums.eviews.com/viewtopic.php? ... rror#p9049.
Anyways, I re-installed Eviews and the import works with the initial version Jan 7 2010. However, when I update to version 7.2 Apr 18 2012 the ODBC error appears again. Furthermore, after installing the latest patch Aug 30 2012 the error is still there.
I hope you can provide some guidance on how to solve this problem.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards

Re: ODBC error
The new Access ODBC driver can require more memory to run. Because EViews reserves a lot of memory upon startup, this can cause the ODBC driver to fail to load properly.
Try increasing the amount of memory that is reserved for Windows, DLLs, etc. by going to the EViews Options menu->General Options->Advanced System Options and increase the "Memory reserved for Windows" dropdown value from the default 400 to say 800 MB. Click OK to save the changes, then restart EViews and try your ODBC import again.
