Import Alpha Series From Excel

This is probably going to sound stupid, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to import an alpha series from excel. I have a column of strings in excel which I would like to import as an alpha series in eviews. Ideally the first element in my column would go into the first element of my series. How do I do this?

Just open the Excel file in EViews (most easily done by dragging the Excel file onto EViews).

Use the WFOPEN command to open up the Excel file.
