Hi,
I have a FAME database stored in my local PC and when I try to open (either by using the menu File/Open/DAtabase... or by command line) I get the following error: "Database error: Unable to find FAME directory".
In both Eviews 6 and 7.1 the result is the same.
Thanks in advance.
Fede
My PC: Windows XP SP2/FAME10 db file.

Re: FAME local database access error
For EViews to be able to access a FAME database you need something called the FAME C HLI library installed on your system.
If this is properly installed, we should be able to find the FAME directory (from the "FAME' environment variable). The error message you're seeing indicates that we're unable to determine where the library is installed.
Please check with your IT administrator or FAME representative to see whether the C HLI is available on your system.

Re: FAME local database access error
Hi, thanks for your reply.
I have installed FAME in a UNIX platform and Eviews in a Windows one. Both environments are connected via an internal FTP. From your reply I assume that I would need FAME to be installed in a windows environment (because Eviews is there) in order to be able to access the database. Otherwise, a .db FAME database file could not be access nor created. Is that correct?

Thanks a lot for your clarification.
Re: FAME local database access error
Hi there,
A year later I come with the same question because I have a similar issue now. I have a FAME db file in my windows pc and I have a local version of Eviews. Is it not possible just to read from this file without having installed FAME in my computer? I thought that the library you mentioned before was only for FAME Server Databases but not Local ones?
Cheers,
Fede

Re: FAME local database access error
The FAME C HLI library is required to read both server and local FAME databases.
