I am trying to follow the instructions in the EViews 7.2 supplement but when I click on the browse button I get the following error message:
Database Error: unable to initialise EdxMagellan.DatabaseManager library
I have installed DesktopInsight and tried restarting my computer but no joy.
I am behind a corporate proxy server and have entered the proper settings in the options dialogue.
I am using EViews enterprise edition.
Any ideas?

Re: Problem Accessing IHS Magellan Database
It seems like your EdxMagellan library is not properly registered on your machine. Here are some things to check:
1. Verify that your EViews 7 folder has a folder named EDX_35 and that folder has the following files in it:
EdxMagellan.dll
EdxMagellan.XmlSerializers.dll
Interop.EViewsEdx.dll
2. Run EViews 7 and type in the command: REGCOMPONENTS. You'll see our Register Components dialog that displays a list of items to register on your current machine. One of these items should be "IHS Magellan Database". Click on the "Yes" button to register (or re-register) these items on your machine. You will need administrator access in order to properly register these items.
Once you've successfully registered these items, you should be able to access Magellan.

I tell a lie. It doesn't seem to be picking up my proxy settings. I get:
Database Error: Magellan Library Error: 'The remote server returned an error (407) : Proxy Authentication Required.'

Re: Problem Accessing IHS Magellan Database
Well I just confirmed with the developer of EdxMagellan that it doesn't seem to use the proxy info defined in EViews. I'll have to make some coding changes to read the proxy settings -- send me your email address so that I can send you a link to download some modified files to get this to work for you. It should take an hour or so.
