importing time series data from excel

Postby bernardg » Tue Jun 07, 2011 2:41 am

I am using EViews 7.2 and Excel 2007. When opening an excel file as a workfile or importing data from an excel file (time series), EViews looks for the data to be organised in columns. However, the kind of data I import is organised in lines rather than columns, because I import a lot of time series. A typical example might be the WEO file of the IMF, which has several thousand lines. Is there a way to perform this import in EViews simply and without having to resort to awkward transpose commands in Excel?

oops, found the answer in the difference between excel 2007 (16000+ columns) and excel 2003 (256 columns).
