I have monthly observations for 100 entities from 1920-1939. My professor has asked me to "identify the trends" after removing seasonality from the data. Then, he wants me to identify "structural breaks" in the trend. He says achieving the above in EViews 7 (Student Edition) is accomplished through the simple clicking of buttons, and it is completely automated. However, I have no idea what those buttons may be.
Can someone help explain in a concise manner (or include snapshots/screen capture technology) to show me how to:
1. Remove seasonality and then identify trends.
2. Test for structural breaks in the trend.
I will be actively monitoring this thread!
Thank you very much for your time.

Removing Seasonality & Finding Structural Breaks
Best place to start is probably to look up seasonality and breakpoints in the User Guide.
