Import Foreign Data to Eviews

Hi,

I am using the Eviews 6 Student Version and have the following problem:

I want to important an existing excel file to eviews. So I choiced File - open - Foreign Data aus Workfile... after choising my Excel File Eviews opens a window: Spreadsheet Read Step 1 of 2 - Cell Range (here everything is fine). The problem starts in Step 2 of 2: I want to change Column Info - Data Type... but a change there isn't possible for me.

Can you help and explain how to change the Data Type with Eview 6 student version?

That feature was not enabled until EViews 7. So if the datatype is incorrect, you will most likely have to import the data as is and then create a series of correct datatype and copy the values manually.
