Question on external program interface.

Postby Liu » Thu Feb 03, 2011 7:26 am

Hi all.

I am very happy to know that Eviews7 can connect to R and use it externally. However, I met some problems using this function.

I installed R. 2.12.1 on my computer and there is a shortcut icon on the desktop. When I use xopen command to launch R,
it first told me that statConnectorSrv.StatConnector cannot be connected. Then I tried to change ProgID intending to solve this problem.
However, eviews7 still has trouble open the GUI based interface of R on my computer?

Any solutions?

Hi Liu:

You need to install a few more components before EViews 7 can talk to R. If you refer to page 155 of our "EViews 7 Command Reference" pdf, you will see the list of items that need to be installed.

Basically, the R COM interface (which is called StatConnector) is not automatically installed with R. You must install this separately...

Thanks Steve. I know what to do now! I didn't find this important point in the hard copy. will
check the pdf in the future instead.

Yes I find it as well now. Thanks again! Very excited that I can use R together with eviews.
